And while you would check reviews and shop around for those things, it probably never crossed your mind that you could or should shop around for a funeral.<\/p>\n<p>Most people use the funeral home they used before \u2013 even if they weren\u2019t happy, and the rest use the one nearest one \u2013 though being nearby doesn\u2019t tell you a thing about whether they\u2019re good or charge reasonable prices.<\/p>\n<p>And, where do most people go to get advice about funeral planning? A funeral home. And, while most funeral directors are compassionate, caring people, they are\u00a0<strong>salespeople<\/strong>\u00a0running a\u00a0<strong>for-profit business.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Did You Know?<\/h3>\n<p>Prices vary enormously from one funeral home to the next \u2013 even for the same things.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Direct cremation ranges from $795 to $5,065!<\/li>\n<li>A plain cardboard cremation box can cost you $20 or $671!<\/li>\n<li>Driving the body to the funeral home? $175 to $785!\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>A graveside service? $100 to $1,295!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Shop Around<\/h3>\n<p>You shop online for almost everything, but you can\u2019t with this because fewer than 10% of NJ funeral homes post their prices online.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Trade Commission says they have to give you a price list if you show up in person, but try to get them to email you one \u2013 it\u2019s not so easy. Can you imagine calling a restaurant and asking them to send you a menu and being told \u201c<em>The menu is really too complicated for the layperson to understand<\/em>\u201d or \u201c<em>we don\u2019t give out the menu unless you come in person to get it<\/em>.\u201d That\u2019s what we hear over and over.<\/p>\n<p>But, lucky you \u2013 You found us!<br \/>We can give you the information you need to have the funeral you want, for the price you want.
